OC junior guard Perry Moore is called for a player control foul as he knocks over Muhlenberg South’s Aaron Johnson while Johnson’s teammate Richard Carver attempts to block Moore’s shot. The Eagles lost the game on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by South’s Tyler Smith giving OC a loss to all three 10th District teams. Unlike last season, the 10th District will be seeded based on regular season district records.


Eagles fall to South, Meade, now 6-8 on year

The first week of the new year was not kind to the Ohio County High Eagles, as coach Paul Decker’s squad lost decisions at Muhlenberg South and Meade County to slip to 6-8 on the year. The Eagles will try to get back on track this week with a pair of home games–Tuesday night hosting Owensboro Catholic and Friday welcoming in 10th District foe McLean County. This Friday’s Eagle-Cougar boys’ contest will tip off at 6 p.m., and will be the first of a boy-girl varsity doubleheader. Next Tuesday, January 16, Ohio County travels to Owensboro to face the Owensboro High Red Devils at the Owensboro Sportscenter.


Lady Gators top OC 63-51 Monday

The Greenwood High Lady Gators grabbed the lead late in the first quarter Monday night and were never headed thereafter in beating 18th-ranked Ohio County 63-51 in a game played in Bowling Green. Monday’s loss dropped the Lady Eagles to 13-3 on the year while Greenwood improved to 8-3. Ohio County returns to action this Friday night at home as the Lady Eagles tangle with 10th District foe McLean County in the nightcap of a boy-girl varsity doubleheader at the OCHS gym. Tip off should be around 8 p.m. Friday night. Next Monday, January 15, the Lady Eagles visit Owensboro High.


Eagles wrestlers win Harrison Co. tourney

Fielding their first 14-man team for the first time in school history, the Ohio County High School wrestling team downed a dozen other teams to win the Harrison County Invitational Wrestling Tournament on December 27. Coach David Miller’s grapplers–ranked 20th in the state–thus downed teams from tenth-ranked Harrison County and 14th-ranked Oldham County.


Lady Eagles beat Bowling Green 84-49 to open 2007

The 18th-ranked Ohio County High Lady Eagles opened the 2007 portion of their basketball season last Tuesday night, January 2, with a workman-like 84-49 dismantling of visiting Bowling Green at the OCHS gym. That win pushed Coach Brad Johnson’s squad to 13-2 on the year while the rebuilding Lady Purples slipped to 5-8. Ohio County’s girls visited Bowling Green Greenwood this Monday night and will play host to 10th District foe McLean County this Friday as part of a boy-girl varsity doubleheader. Next Monday, January 15, the OCHS squad visits Owensboro High School.
