Alva Blacklock, Jr.
Alva Blacklock, Jr., 73, of Cromwell, died Monday, January 29, 2007, at his residence in Cromwell.  He was the son of the late Alva Blacklock and Ida (Day) Blacklock.
He retired after 21 years of service as a Chief Warrant Officer in the Army.  He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and received the Bronze Star.  He was a member of Green River Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ivan Blacklock; and three sisters, Flossie Hines, Evla Hunter and Christine Blacklock.
He is survived by two sons, Alva Blacklock, III of Owensboro and Marty Blacklock of Cromwell; a daughter, Teresa Ready of Vine Grove, Kentucky; a sister, Alice Deane Bryant of Cromwell; two brothers, Glen Blacklock and Avery Blacklock, both of Cromwell; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam.   Burial was in Green River Cemetery in Cromwell.

Randall V. Ashby
Randall V. “Randy” Ashby, 55, of Beaver Dam, died Friday, January 26, 2007, at his home.
He was born in Madisonville, Kentucky, retired from the U.S. Army, a Master Mason with the Masonic Lodge in Alabama, a Kentucky Colonel, and of the Baptist faith.
Randy, the son of Charles V. Ashby of Hartford and Opal Herron of Beaver Dam, retired as Chief Warrant Officer Four after serving 21 years of active service in the U.S. Army.  During his tenure, he served this country at several stations in the United States and also in Vietnam, Korea, Panama, Honduras, El Salvador, Germany, Cyprus, Turkey, Iraq and the Republic of the Bahamas.  Randy retired as a UH-60 (Blackhawk) instructor pilot and instrument flight examiner.  His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, two Meritorious Service Medals, five Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, the Good Conduct Medal, three Humanitarian Service Medals, the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Ribbon, Vietnam Service Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, two National Defense Medals and the Master Army Aviator Badge.
Survivors include his father, Charles V. Ashby and his wife Betty of Hartford; his mother, Opal Herron and her husband Bob of Beaver Dam; a son, Kris Ashby of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Mariah Burns of Cecilia, Kentucky, and Melody Govig and her husband Justin of Chattanooga, Tennessee; two brothers, Doug Ashby and his wife Mindy and Kevin Ashby and his wife Shannon; two sisters, Terri Helm and her husband Reggie of Owensboro and Amanda Ashby of Hartford; five grandchildren, Kristopher Blake Ashby, Leighanna Grace Ashby, Stephen Burns, Seth Burns and Christian Michael Govig; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at Bevil Brothers Funeral Home in Beaver Dam.  Burial with military honors was in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. 

Harold David Cummings
Harold David Cummings, 70, Falls of Rough, died Friday, January 26, 2007, at his home.
He was born in Olaton and was a retired oil field worker.  He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his companion of 29 years, Ellen Huff of Falls of Rough; a daughter, Shannon Taylor of Hawesville; a brother, Billy Cummings of Falls of Rough; two sisters, Sue Tate of Falls of Rough and Doris Harder of Leitchfield; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 29, 2007, at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville.  Burial was in Yeaman Cemetery in Grayson County.



Norman Gregory Skaggs
Norman Gregory “Greg” Skaggs, 42, of Utica, died Friday, January 26, 2007, at his home.
He was an employee of Holiday World as the roller coaster mechanic and was previously employed with Swedish Match.  He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and attended Masonville Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Specialist Timothy Adam Fulkerson, who died on October 7, 2006, in Tikrit, Iraq; his father, Norman Skaggs in 1995; his maternal grandmother, Rita McCullough in 2000; and by his paternal grandmother, Annetta Jo Skaggs in 2006.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Anissa Jo “Nikki” Skaggs; daughters, Terri Nicole Skaggs, Kelsey Ann Skaggs and MariEmilia Rannette Fulkerson; sons, Bradley Norman Skaggs and Houston Shane Fulkerson-Skaggs; a granddaughter; his mother and step-father, Toloma and Jerry Anderson; his sister, Candi Lynn Kamuf; and his brothers, Norman Todd Skaggs, Steve Anderson, Scott Anderson and Jerry Lynn Anderson, Jr.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 29,2007, at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro.  Burial was in Owensboro Memorial Gardens in Owensboro.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Masonville Fire Department, P.O. Box 1010, Utica, Kentucky  42376.

Jimmy Lee Ashby, Jr.
Jimmy Lee “Jim Bob” Ashby, Jr., 36, of Beaver Dam, died Thursday, January 25, 2007, in Hartford.  
He was born on August 16, 1970, in Hartford to Jimmy and Helen (Fields) Ashby.
He was a graduate of Ohio County High School and Nashville Diesel College.  He was an Air Force veteran, employed by Matrix Co. as a boilermaker and a member of McHenry Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Charles Edward Ashby, Sr., and Slaney Fields.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Matthew Ashby and his wife Shana of Cromwell; his grandmothers, Margaret “Jean” Ashby and Charlena Field, both  of Beaver Dam; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held on January 29, 2007, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Kelley Harris and Rev. Gary Hines officiating.  Burial was in Green River Cemetery in Cromwell.  The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Green River Baptist Church Van Fund.

Earrol Bishop
Earrol “Deannie” Monroe Bishop, 70, of Whiting, Indiana, formerly of Ohio County, passed away January 24, 2007, at St. Margaret Hospital, Hammond, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Berchel; a son, Irvin; a sister, Rosetta Kiper; a granddaughter, Angie; and a brother, Scottie.
She is survived by two daughters, Virginia Serna of Whiting and LaDonna Condes of Michigan City; two sons, Stecy Bishop and Eric Bishop, both of Whiting; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 29, 2007, at Owens Funeral Home in Whiting.  Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond, Indiana.

Orbry Lee Buck
Orbry Lee Buck, 76, of Hartford, died Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at home. 
He was born on July 28, 1930, in Slickford, Kentucky (Wayne County), to the late Samuel C. and Elsie Johnson Buck.
He was self-employed as a carpenter and construction worker, a member of Bells Run Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents and  a brother, Conrad Amos Buck.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Gilbert Buck of Hartford; a son, Samuel Lee Buck of Owensboro; two daughters, Wanda Jean Buck of San Antonio, Texas, and Erma Christine Hastie of Owensboro; brothers, Harold D. Buck of New Mexico, Carlis C. Buck of Muncie, Indiana, Bob Orvil Buck of Springport, Indiana, and Delmer Buck of Felda, Florida; sisters, Lorene Smith of Bells Run, Maxine Anderson of Whitesville, Nadine Boone of Dalton, Georgia, and Pauline Boone of Owensboro; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 27, 2007, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford.  Burial was in Bells Run Baptist Church Cemetery in Ohio County.


Bonnie B. Lamb
Bonnie B. Lamb, 88, of Hartford, died Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at Professional Care Health and Rehab Center in Hartford.
She was born in the Sulphur Springs community of Ohio County, was a member of Concord Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lamb in April 2002, and a son, Donald Lamb in May  2000.
She is survived by a son, Troy Lamb of Apache Junction, Arizona; a daughter, Debi Puckett of Hartford; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 27, 2007, at Duke-Bevil Brothers Funeral Home in Hartford.  Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.


Donald Ray Widner
Donald Ray Widner, 59, of Beaver Dam, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at his residence.
Mr. Widner was born on March 8, 1947, to the late Alfred and Trula Burns Widner in Harlan County, Kentucky.
He worked for Peabody Coal Company and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Joan Southard Widner, who passed away April 6, 2003.
Survivors include a son, Donald Widner, Jr., of Booneville, Indiana; a daughter, Kimberly Widner of Beaver Dam; a brother, Alfred Widner, Jr., of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky; three sisters, Cathy Hobdy and Corolyn Raley, both of Hartford and Mary Ann Smith of McHenry; and three grandchildren, Lauren Widner, Ashley Widner and Noah Widner.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 27, 2007, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Betty Shaver officiating.  Burial was in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry.

Howard Lindel Elmore
Howard Lindel Elmore, 87, of Beaver Dam, died Sunday, January 21, 2007, at Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehab Center in Beaver Dam.  He was the son of the late Alford and Lula Elmore.  
He was employed by Peabody Coal Company, a member of Independence Baptist Church, and a member of McHenry Lodge F&AM #800.  He also served in the Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Ellen Elmore.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby (King) Elmore; a daughter, Linda Mae Crawford of Louisville; a son, Michael Joe Elmore of Louisville; a brother, Alfred Elmore of Indianapolis, Indiana; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 26, 2007, at William L. Danks Funeral Home.  Burial was in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry.  Masonic services were held on Thursday, January 25, 2007, at the funeral home.

Opal M. Coppage
Opal M. Coppage, 89, formerly of Schererville, Indiana, passed away Friday, January 12, 2007.
She was a former member of the Whiting Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E. Harold Coppage.  
She is survived by two daughters, Donna L. Brown of Hartford and Linda Laczkowski of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a son, Hal Coppage of Schererville; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack Conder of North Little Rock, Arkansas; and two sisters, Billie Hollis of Schererville and Marleen Rodsler of Cabot, Arkansas.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home in St. John, Indiana.  Burial was in Memory Lane Cemetery in Schererville.


Eathel Bellaver
Eathel “Dixie” Bellaver, 92, of Madison Heights, died Saturday, December 30, 2006,  at St. Anthony’s Nursing Home in Warren.  
She was born on August 22, 1914, in Ohio County.  She married Americo “Rex” Bellaver on November 30, 1940.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in October of 2002; and a daughter, Peggy Cole.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Hall of Royal Oak and Rex Bellaver of Frankenmuth; a sister, Lucille Akins of Royal Oak; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 3, 2007, at Edward Swanson and Son Funeral Home in Madison Heights.  Burial was in Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley.  Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
