Alva
Blacklock, Jr., 73, of Cromwell, died Monday, January 29, 2007, at his residence
in Cromwell.
He
was the son of the late Alva Blacklock and Ida (Day) Blacklock.
He
retired after 21 years of service as a Chief Warrant Officer in the Army.
He
was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and received the Bronze
Star.
He
was a member of Green River Baptist Church.
In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ivan Blacklock;
and three sisters, Flossie Hines, Evla Hunter and Christine Blacklock.
He
is survived by two sons, Alva Blacklock, III of Owensboro and Marty Blacklock
of Cromwell; a daughter, Teresa Ready of Vine Grove, Kentucky; a sister,
Alice Deane Bryant of Cromwell; two brothers, Glen Blacklock and Avery Blacklock,
both of Cromwell; and four grandchildren.
Funeral
services were held on Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at William L. Danks Funeral
Home in Beaver Dam.
Burial
was in Green River Cemetery in Cromwell.

V. Ashby
Randall
V. “Randy” Ashby, 55, of Beaver Dam, died Friday, January 26, 2007, at his
home.
He
was born in Madisonville, Kentucky, retired from the U.S. Army, a Master
Mason with the Masonic Lodge in Alabama, a Kentucky Colonel, and of the
Baptist faith.
Randy,
the son of Charles V. Ashby of Hartford and Opal Herron of Beaver Dam, retired
as Chief Warrant Officer Four after serving 21 years of active service in
the U.S. Army.
During
his tenure, he served this country at several stations in the United States
and also in Vietnam, Korea, Panama, Honduras, El Salvador, Germany, Cyprus,
Turkey, Iraq and the Republic of the Bahamas.
Randy
retired as a UH-60 (Blackhawk) instructor pilot and instrument flight examiner.
His
awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, two Meritorious Service
Medals, five Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, the
Good Conduct Medal, three Humanitarian Service Medals, the Kuwaiti Liberation
Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Ribbon, Vietnam
Service Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, two National Defense Medals and
the Master Army Aviator Badge.
Survivors
include his father, Charles V. Ashby and his wife Betty of Hartford; his
mother, Opal Herron and her husband Bob of Beaver Dam; a son, Kris Ashby
of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Mariah Burns of Cecilia, Kentucky, and
Melody Govig and her husband Justin of Chattanooga, Tennessee; two brothers,
Doug Ashby and his wife Mindy and Kevin Ashby and his wife Shannon; two
sisters, Terri Helm and her husband Reggie of Owensboro and Amanda Ashby
of Hartford; five grandchildren, Kristopher Blake Ashby, Leighanna Grace
Ashby, Stephen Burns, Seth Burns and Christian Michael Govig; and many nieces
and nephews.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at Bevil Brothers Funeral
Home in Beaver Dam.
Burial
with military honors was in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

David Cummings, 70, Falls of Rough, died Friday, January 26, 2007, at his
home.
He
was born in Olaton and was a retired oil field worker.
He
was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors
include his companion of 29 years, Ellen Huff of Falls of Rough; a daughter,
Shannon Taylor of Hawesville; a brother, Billy Cummings of Falls of Rough;
two sisters, Sue Tate of Falls of Rough and Doris Harder of Leitchfield;
and two grandchildren.

Fordsville.

was in Yeaman Cemetery in Grayson County.

Norman
Gregory “Greg” Skaggs, 42, of Utica, died Friday, January 26, 2007, at his
home.
He
was an employee of Holiday World as the roller coaster mechanic and was
previously employed with Swedish Match.
He
was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and attended Masonville Baptist
Church.
He
was preceded in death by his son, Specialist Timothy Adam Fulkerson, who
died on October 7, 2006, in Tikrit, Iraq; his father, Norman Skaggs in 1995;
his maternal grandmother, Rita McCullough in 2000; and by his paternal grandmother,
Annetta Jo Skaggs in 2006.
He
is survived by his wife of 14 years, Anissa Jo “Nikki” Skaggs; daughters,
Terri Nicole Skaggs, Kelsey Ann Skaggs and MariEmilia Rannette Fulkerson;
sons, Bradley Norman Skaggs and Houston Shane Fulkerson-Skaggs; a granddaughter;
his mother and step-father, Toloma and Jerry Anderson; his sister, Candi
Lynn Kamuf; and his brothers, Norman Todd Skaggs, Steve Anderson, Scott
Anderson and Jerry Lynn Anderson, Jr.

He
was born on August 16, 1970, in Hartford to Jimmy and Helen (Fields) Ashby.
He
was a graduate of Ohio County High School and Nashville Diesel College.
He
was an Air Force veteran, employed by Matrix Co. as a boilermaker and a
member of McHenry Baptist Church.
He
was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Charles Edward Ashby, Sr., and
Slaney Fields.
In
addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Matthew Ashby and
his wife Shana of Cromwell; his grandmothers, Margaret “Jean” Ashby and
Charlena Field, both

Beaver Dam; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

at his residence.
Mr.
Widner was born on March 8, 1947, to the late Alfred and Trula Burns Widner
in Harlan County, Kentucky.
He
worked for Peabody Coal Company and was of the Baptist faith.
He
was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Joan Southard Widner, who passed
away April 6, 2003.
Survivors
include a son, Donald Widner, Jr., of Booneville, Indiana; a daughter, Kimberly
Widner of Beaver Dam; a brother, Alfred Widner, Jr., of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky;

was preceded in death by her husband, who died in October of 2002; and a
daughter, Peggy Cole.
She
is survived by her children, Patricia Hall of Royal Oak and Rex Bellaver
of Frankenmuth; a sister, Lucille Akins of Royal Oak; three grandchildren;
and five great-grandchildren.
