Dodging inclement weather, the Ohio County baseball Eagles managed two wins in four games last week, including three in the snow-shortened Heart of Kentucky Classic tournament at Marion County High School. Last week’s outcomes put Coach Ted Hill’s team at 5-2 entering this week’s contests–a Monday night game at Edmonson County and a Friday-Saturday appearance in the Wildcat Classic at Franklin-Simpson High School.
Kentucky Wesleyan senior pitcher Meredith McConnell threw a complete game last Wednesday as the Lady Panthers beat Oakland City University 4-3 in fast-pitch softball at the KWC field in Owensboro. Meredith–the daughter of Phillip and Connie McConnell of Hartford–was a former standout hurler and hitter at Ohio County High School in a five-year varsity career.
The Ohio County High baseball Eagles will be taking part in the 2007 Wildcat Classic hosted by Franklin-Simpson High School this Friday and Saturday, April 13-14, while the OCHS freshman squad will be playing host to an invitational freshman tournament those same days at Bill Leach Field.
The Ohio County High baseball Eagles pushed their 2007 record to 6-2 Monday night with a convincing 10-3 win at Edmonson County. Coach Ted Hill’s club clubbed four extra-base hits in Monday’s win, including home runs by seniors Bryan Taylor and Michael Bennett in support of junior Wade Taylor’s one-hit pitching performance.
