Bennett Foster
Robert
Bennett Foster, 80, died Monday, May 7, 2007, at Owensboro Medical Health
System.
He
was born in Ohio County, the son of the late J.W. and Lilly King Foster
and was of the Baptist faith.
He
retired as a Chief Medical Corpsman from the U.S. Navy where he served
during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He enjoyed
classical music, fishing, hunting and tending to his garden and fruit
trees.
Survivors
include his wife, Delia "Dee" V. Foster of Hartford; a son, Robert Foster
of Hartford; two daughters, Tamara Foster Hardesty of Beaver Dam and
Deborah Foster of San Juan Capistrano, California; seven grandchildren,
Jasmine Foster, Candice Bradley, Erin Watson, Christopher and Bryce
Allyson Chan, and Kristen and Hannah Hardesty;
a
great-grandson, Cullyn Bradley; and a sister, Ruth Tichenor of Beaver
Dam.
Funeral
services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2007, at the Bevil
Brothers Funeral Home in Hartford.
Burial
will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford.
Visitation
was from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, and will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
on Thursday and 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.

Russell Allen
James
"Jamie" Russell Allen, 39, of Fordsville, passed away Sunday, May 6,
2007, at his residence in Fordsville.
He
was born on August 5, 1967, in Hartford to the late James Franklin and
Rowena Probus Allen. He was in construction by trade.
Survivors
include a son, James Wayne Allen of Hartford; a daughter, Shawntee Baker;
three brothers, Roger Dale Allen and Thomas Scott Allen, both
of
Caneyville and Richard Neal Allen of Horse Branch; two sisters, Sharon
Camp of Horse Branch and Lisa Diane Ferguson of Rosine; and his fiancé,
Kimberly Zwanzig of Fordsville.
Funeral
services will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2007, at 11 a.m. at William
L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam.
Visitation
was from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and will be from 9 a.m. until the
time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

"Aunt Bob" DeWitt, 74, of Cedar Lake, Indiana, formerly of Fordsville,
died Sunday, May 6, 2007, at her home.
She
was born in Hancock County.
She
was a housewife and a member of Friendship Family Worship Center.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer "Buck" DeWitt.
Survivors
include a son, Jeffery DeWitt of Cedar Lake; a daughter, Faye DeWitt
of Smithville, Tennessee; a brother, Diamond Clark of Fordsville; two
grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral
services will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Geary
Funeral Home in Fordsville.
Burial
will be in Beatty Cemetery in Hancock County.

Leamon
Fuqua, 80, of Fordsville, died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Owensboro Medical
Health System.
He
was born in Hancock County and was retired from Majestic Crude Oil Company.
He
was a member of Fordsville Baptist Church and Fordsville Masonic Lodge
#600.
He
is survived by his wife, Mamie Lee Fuqua of Fordsville; a son, Bert
Leon Fuqua of Shelbyville; a daughter, Brenda Coffield of Fordsville;
a brother, Rex Fuqua of Fordsville; a sister, Zelpha Leathem of Fordsville;
five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Geary Funeral Home in
Fordsville.
Burial
was in Fordsville Cemetery.
Clyde
Grider
Clyde
Grider, 90, of Hawesville, died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Bon Harbor
Nursing and Rehab Center in Owensboro.
He
was born on June 22, 1916, in Casey County, Kentucky, to the late Ollie
and Mollie Atwood Grider.
His
childhood years were spent in Mississippi County, Missouri, where he
attended Aniston High School.
He
received his high school degree through the Hancock County School System's
GED program in 1970.
He
was married to Thelma Fleming of Muhlenberg County in 1940.
He
was a retired farmer, having farmed in Ohio and Hancock Counties.
He
was the oldest living member of the Hawesville United Methodist
Church
and
a
former member of Centertown, Equality and Ceralvo Methodist Churches
in Ohio County.
He
was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Thelma Fleming Grider
on March 23, 1998; two daughters, Valdrice Watts on April 17, 1985,
and Ramona B. Grider on February 12, 2006; a grandson, Gregory Watts
on March 9, 1964; his parents, a brother, John Grider; and three sisters,
Oma Mahon Boyd, Lily Tatum and Ona Grider.
Survivors
include two daughters, Arlayne (Joe) Moseley of Hartford and Rebecca
(Larry) Best of Louisville; two sons, Clyde C. (Fran) Grider and David
Dwight Grider, both of Owensboro; nine grandchildren, Susan Shultz of
McHenry, Alan Watts of LaGrange, Alisha Doughty of Harrodsburg, Danny
Moseley of Utica, Dwayne Moseley of Glasgow, Kendall and Cayce Grider
of Owensboro and Chris and Cari Best of Louisville; a step-grandchild,
Ted Tatum of Owensboro; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe Grider
of Centertown; two sisters, Louise Beliles Bond of Whitehouse, Tennessee,
and Dorothy Coleman of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral
services were held on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at Gibson and Son Funeral
Home in Hawesville.
Burial
was in Serenity Hills in Hawesville.

Martell
Crowder, 66, of Horse Branch, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2007,
at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford.
She
was born on July 19, 1940, in Ohio County to the late Charlie and Wilma
Rafferty Raley.
She
was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, Ireland Ray Crowder.
Survivors
include two sons, David Crowder of Rosine and Maurice Crowder of Morgantown;
a daughter, Sherry Willoughby of Rosine; four brothers, Jerry Raley
and Buddy Raley, both of Cromwell, Junior Raley of Beaver Dam and Darlese
Raley of Louisville; three sisters, Anna King of Cromwell, Sue Wilson
of Rosine and Jeanette Raley of Beaver Dam; three grandchildren.

was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Ohio County.

Jessie
Sorrells, 57, of Franklin, died Wednesday, April 25, at the Medical
Center in Franklin.
A
native of Muhlenberg County, he was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson
Sorrells and Veneda Louise Baize Sorrells.
He
is survived by his wife, Thelma Thompson Sorrels of Franklin; two sons,
Allen Ferguson of Prentiss and Josh Stamps of Franklin; four daughters,
Melissa Salecido of Portland, and Sandy Emery, Vickie Hillard and Linda
Cook, all of Owensboro; two brothers, Bobby Sorrells of Beaver Dam and
Thomas C. Sorrells of Richmond; and four sisters, Mattie McCormick and
Shirley Swift of Beaver Dam, Mary Tinnell of Owensboro and Molly Johnson
of Dundee.
A
memorial service was held for family and friends at the residence.
