Melissa Kaye “Katie” Autry
Melissa Kaye “Katie” Autry, 18, of Pellville, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville.
The Owensboro native was a member of Pellville Baptist Church, where she was a member of the youth group, Acteens and Assembly Committee and was a student at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green.  She was a 2002 graduate of Hancock County High School, where she had participated in many activities, including cheerleading, track, Pep, Beta, Spanish and Reading clubs, SADD, Dedicated Teens, FCA, FCCLA, TSA and Principal’s Leadership.  She had earned Academic All-State, Honor Roll Student of the Month, Most Improved Cheerleader ‘98-’99, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, Most Determined Cheerleader ‘00-’01, District Cheerleader 2002, Cords for Above Average Testing Scores and proficient Writing Portfolio, DAPOS Cheerleading Scholarship, Perfect Attendance, 3rd Place Cheerleading in Game All “A” Classic 1999, 2nd Place Cheerleading in Game All “A” Classic 2000.
Her grandparents, Wavie Dewey and Peggy Sue Autry, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her foster parents with whom she lived, Jim and Shirley Inman of Pellville; her mother, Donnie Autry of Rosine; a sister, Lisa Michelle Autry of Pellville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial services were Sunday at Pellville Baptist Church. Funeral services were at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with burial in Rosine Cemetery.

Bruce Anthony Johnson

Bruce Anthony Johnson, 39, of Knottsville, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, from injuries suffered in an auto accident.
The Daviess County native worked out of Local 103 Iron Workers and was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church.  He enjoyed woodworking and all types of sports.  A brother, Randall Lee Johnson, died in 1965.
Survivors include his wife, Julia Mills Johnson; three children, Danny, Cassie and Toni, all at home; four brothers, Larry Johnson of Whitesville, Kenneth and Patrick Johnson, both of Knottsville and Joseph Johnson of Louisville; and four sisters, Jeanetta Ballard of Utica, Susan Bickett of Whitesville, Ann Allen of Pleasant Ridge and Cynthia Mills of Philpot.
Services were Tuesday at St. Williams Catholic Church with burial in St. Williams Cemetery in Knottsville.  Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville was in charge of arrangements.

Louis F. “Bill” Luck

Louis F. “Bill” Luck, 73, of Wrightsburg, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, at his home.  
The Beech Grove native had retired as a manager from Miles Tire Shop in Owensboro and was a member of the Wrightsburg Free Methodist Church. He especially enjoyed reading his Bible and sharing time with his family.  Bill also enjoyed watching NASCAR and Animal Planet.  His first wife of 51 years, Jean Luck, died March 8, 2000.  Bill was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tricia Jo Jeffries, on May 30, 1989 and a sister, Jeneva Luck Miller, on May 24, 1996.
Survivors include his wife of 2 1/2 years, Norma Jean Luck; four daughters, Katherine Smiley of Lewisport, Patty Jeffries of Calhoun, Brenda Coleman of Beech Grove and Linda Bryant of Romulus, Michigan; six stepdaughters, Doris Ann Hagan of Hartford, Belinda Vaughn of Thruston, Janice Biviens of Maceo, Connie Beauchamp of Knottsville, Mary Jo Riley of Maceo and Alice Boone of Hartford; 11 grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Luck of Gainsboro, Tennessee; and a sister, Fredia Lyons of Danville.
Services were Tuesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with burial in Calhoun Cemetery.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Calhoun Cemetery, Tornado Relief Fund, c/o Winfred Williams, P.O. Murl L. Harder

Murl L. Harder, 88, of Fordsville, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
The Grayson County native, formerly of Olaton, retired from Fort Hartford Stone Quarry in September, 1975.  He was a member of Olaton Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his wives, Sally Decker Harder in April, 1988 and Barbara Daugherty Harder in July 1997.  He was also preceded in death  by his sons, Murl Dale Harder in August, 1976 and Dion Earl Harder in March, 1997; a stepson, Jerry Daugherty in June, 2002; and a grandson, Anthony Pernell Harder in February , 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Paula Winchester of Dundee; four stepdaughters, Mary Burden of Centertown, Brenda Dockery of Hartford, Lou Fowler of Tennessee and Bettie Mitchell of Dawson Springs; a stepson, Kenneth Daugherty of Michigan; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; 18 stepgrandchildren; 21 stepgreat-grandchildren; and 29 stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Services were Friday at Gary Funeral Home in Fordsville with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Pattiville.

Sedley Harreld

Sedley Harreld, 103, of Beaver Dam, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at home.
The Little Bend, Butler County native was a farmer on the family farm until 1956.  He retired after 10 years from U.S. Steel in Gary, Indiana.  He was a member of the Point Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Little Bend, where he was an elder from 1933 to his recent death.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 80 1/2 years, Bunnie Shultz Harreld, who passed away March 28, 2003; three sons, Thornton Harreld in December, 1979, Maurice Harreld in January, 1979 and Ray Harreld in September, 1988; and his grandson, Mark Johnson, in February, 1977.
Survivors include two sons, Kyle “Mildred” Harreld of Highland, Indiana and Cedric Harreld of Griffith, Indiana; two daughters, Wanda Patton of Beaver Dam and Barbara Johnson of Belleville, Illinois; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were Saturday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with burial in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

Leonard King
Leonard King, 78, of Utica, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
The Whitley City native retired from Fleischmann’s Distillery.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Phillips.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Ruth King of Utica; five daughters, Sherry Johnson of Union, Billie Jo McDaniel of Owensboro, Sheila Arnold of Cincinnati, Peggy King of Utica and Christy Condor of Owensboro; 14 grandchildren; and one sister, Grace Donaldson of Cincinnati.
Services were private.  Glenn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Virginia Myrl Brown

Virginia Myrl Brown, 79, of Calhoun, formerly of Livermore, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
The Centertown native was a homemaker, a member of the Hazel Creek Baptist Church in Muhlenberg County and enjoyed painting.
Survivors include two sons, Ronnie L. Brown of Lewisport and Billy Glenn Riley of Brandenberg; a daughter, Ethel Maude Brown of Lewisport; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Darrell B. Riley of Buel; and two sisters, Anna Dorn of Chicago and Valetta Anderson of Ridgecrest, California.

Ellis Darrel Rusher

Ellis Darrel Rusher, 69, of Fordsville, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Ohio County Hospital.
He retired as a self-employed logger and was a member of East Fork Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorinda Luther; a grandchild; four brothers, J.P. Rusher, Bobby Rusher, Wendell Rusher and Lendell Rusher; and three sisters, Helen Westerfield, Naomi Sorrels and JoAnna Jett.
Services were Saturday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville.
