Sharon Gaye Bennett

Sharon Gaye Howard Bennett, 71, of Owensboro, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at home. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Dale Bennett on January 7, 2000; a sister, Wanda Ridgeway in 1986; and brothers, James A. "Buddy" Howard, Jr. in 1993 and Kenneth Vondell Howard in 1930.

She is survived by sisters, Lavaughn Renfrow of Owensboro and Carmen Lindsey of Hartford; nephews, James Edward Howard, Bryan Miller Howard and Buddy A. Howard; and nieces, Virginia Kay Shields, Wanda Maria Lomax, Joni Elaine Phelps, Karen Gail Rhoades, Shelly Ann Daugherty, Cathy Lynn Hendrix, Rhonda Jean Farthing and Glenna Gaye Embry.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford with Rev. Frank C. Benton and Mr. Earl D. Phelps officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery in Ohio County.  Visitation was held from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.

Mona Eileen McIntyre
Mona Eileen Case McIntyre, 83, of Fordsville, died June 5, 2007, at her residence.
She was born February 17, 1924, in Bardstown, Kentucky.  She was a housewife, mother and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Pattiville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee McIntyre on February 18, 1997; a son, David Wayne McIntyre on September 15, 1959; and two grandchildren, Charles Roy Embry, Jr. and Carl Richard Embry.
She is survived by three sons, Robert Ernest McIntyre, Edgar Clayton McIntyre and Daniel Patrick McIntyre, all of Fordsville; four daughters, Mona Letitia Vanover of Harned, Kentucky, Sharon Lee Holley of Cromwell and Laura Elaine Woods and Melissa Kay McIntyre, both of Fordsville; a sister, Dorothy Caudill of Louisville; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 8, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville.  Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery   in Pattiville.  Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.

Jerry Rock
It is with great sadness that the family of Jerry Rock announces his passing on June 5, 2007.  At the age of 67, Jerry went to be with the Lord.
Jerry was born October 6, 1939, in Ohio County to the late Edward L. and Neoma Miller Rock.  
He was a U.S. Army veteran and had been a member of McHenry Baptist Church for over 45 years.  He was a member of New Assembly Church in Hartford at the time of his death.  He was employed as trim foreman for Thompson Homes, Inc. in Owensboro.
Besides his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, Mallam Rock.
Jerry will be remembered by his loving wife of 42 years, Betty Embry Rock, and daughter, Bo Berryman and son-in-law, Doug.  Jerry will be forever remembered by his three grandchildren, Jessica Overstreet, Jordan Overstreet and Lily-Cate Berryman; his sisters, Clarine Baldwin and Linda Davis; his brothers, Danny Rock and wife Barbara, Kenny Rock and wife Nancy, Freddie Rock and wife Linda, Dickie Rock, Phillip Rock and wife Vicki, and Roger Rock and wife Sharon; and his in-laws, Wendell Embry, Regina Nimmo and husband Jerry, Orena Boyd and husband Gene, Phillip Embry, Ken and Jackie Embry.  Jerry will also be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and extended family and many dear friends.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2007, at William L. Danks Funeral Home with Rev. Lealin Geary and Rev. Scott Fleener officiating.  Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam.  Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.

Betty Jane Dennis
Betty Jane Howard Dennis, 77, of Owensboro, died Sunday, June 3, 2007, at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehab. in Owensboro.
She was born March 30, 1930, in Daviess County to the late Edward Howard and Eva Mae McDaniel Howard.  She was retired from Kroger Grocery in Owensboro where she worked as a produce clerk and was a member of Dawson Baptist Church.  
Survivors include three sons, Paul Michael Dennis and Phillip Wayne Dennis, both of Owensboro and Stephen Howard Dennis of Chattanooga, Tennessee; a daughter, Bonnie Kaye Roller of Lexington; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several half brothers; and several half sisters.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Clear Run Baptist Church Cemetery in Ohio County.  Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford was in charge of arrangements.

Helen Delilah Munson
Helen Delilah Wooten Munson, 90, of Hartford, died Sunday, June 3, 2007, at her residence.
She was born April 29, 1917, in Polk County, Florida, to the late Joel H. Wooten and Julie Ann Neal.
She was a homemaker and a member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church in Davenport, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred N. Munson on March 26, 1988.
Survivors include a son, Alfred E. Munson of Webster, Florida; a daughter, Ramona Allen of Hartford; a brother Willey Wooten of Sardis, Georgia; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2007, at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church in Loughman, Florida.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Loughman.  Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford was in charge of local arrangements.

Roger Dale Smith
Roger Dale Smith, 58, of Beaver Dam, died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at his home.
He was born in Hartford and  served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marines.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Taylor Smith; three sons, Dwayne Smith, Tim Pirtle and Steve Taylor; three daughters, Debra Taylor Smith, Virginia Taylor and Sherry Taylor Kellems; his mother, Iva Phelps Toca; three sisters, Judy French, Cathie Moore and Betty Moore; and 17 grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam.  Military honors were conducted by the Ohio County Color Guard.  Bevil Brothers Funeral Home in Beaver Dam was in charge of arrangements.

Alvin V. Peters
Alvin V. Peters, 75, of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007, at St. Mary Corwin Medical Center in Pueblo.
He was born October 24, 1931, in Ohio County to the late Shirley and Alma Davidson Peters.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, worked at Inland Steel Mill and was of the Protestant faith.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie and Donnie Peters, who passed away in November 1964.
He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Haynes of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; two brothers, Hollis Peters of Hartford and William Peters of Cleveland, Tennessee; three sisters, Ruth Utley of Hartford, Martha Thompson of Beaver Dam and Fay Geary of McHenry; three grandsons, Gerimy Haynes of Pueblo, Dustyn Williams and Ryan Williams, both of Sand Springs; an uncle, L.C. Peters of Livermore; an aunt, Evanell Flener of Centertown; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 2, 2007, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Jesse Tichenor officiating.  Burial was in Central Grove Cemetery near Centertown.

Vambra W. Shepherd
Vambra W. Shepherd, 91, of Beaver Dam, passed away Friday, May 25, 2007, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford.
He was born June 12, 1916, in Ohio County to the late George B. and Mae Leach Shepherd.  He owned and operated Shepherd's Grocery in Prentiss and was a member of Slaty Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 3, 2007, at William L. Danks in Beaver Dam.  Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery.

Eula Bell Elliott
Eula Bell "Midge" Aldridge Elliott, 69, of Brooksville, Florida, died Sunday, May 27, 2007, at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida.
She was the daughter of the late Ernest B. and Flora Calloway Aldrige, formerly of Hartford.  
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Arles "Bud" Elliott; a son, Donald Kevin of Norfolk, Virginia; a step-son, Jay of Peoria, Illinois; sisters, Carol Durbin and Dorothy Jolley of Oakland, Illinois; and a grandson.
