AUBURN, Ky. — David Earl Harper, 78, of Auburn, Ky., died on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. He was born Sunday, April 5, 1942, in Beech Creek, Ky., the son of the late Robie Harper and the late Velma Bivins Harper.
He was a coal miner and served as a SP4 in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of Vietnam.
Surviving are son, Chris Harper (Belinda), of Belton, Ky.; daughters, Stephanie Meacham (Greg), of Auburn; and Jennifer Whitney (Mike McKiernan), of Russellville, Ky.; sister, Betty Hatcher (Leroy), of Greenville; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by brothers, Robie Harper, Jr., Charles Harper and Jimmy Harper; sisters, Jewel Mallory and Marie McCaley.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Price Funeral Home, Inc., 252 E. Green Street, Lewisburg, Ky.
The family has chosen for cremation to take place with no service following visitation.
Due to current mandates set forth by the governor of Kentucky, there is an occupancy limit of 75 inside the funeral home facility, not including funeral home staff or officiating clergy. It is also required that a mask be correctly worn at all times while inside the facility.
