MORGANTOWN — Nicholas Won (NW) Johnson, 87, of Morgantown, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021, at Greenview Hospital in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Nicholas was born on Monday, Feb. 12, 1934, in Butler County to the late Cleatus and Lottie Johnson. Nicholas loved the Lord and serving him as a deacon, trustee and member of Temple Hill General Baptist Church. He retired from Nugent Sand Company in Louisville as a tow boat captain. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Rita (Joe) Newton; his son, Cleatus Johnson; his brothers, Leslie Johnson, H.C. (Myrl) Johnson and J.N. Johnson; and his sisters, Dimple (Odell) Elmore and Catherine (Wid) Mason.
Nicholas Won Johnson is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Rosa Johnson, two sons, Terry (Linda) Johnson and Andy Johnson, along with one daughter, Cheryl (Donald) Burden, all of Morgantown. He had 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, along with several special nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at Satterfield Cemetery in Jetson. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
