OCTN, Paragon Printing welcomes new graphic designer

Sonja Davis is no stranger to graphic design and printing, after all she has been doing it for nearly three decades.

On Monday, she brought her experience and talents to Ohio County Times and Paragon Printing, both owned by the Andy Anderson Corporation in Hartford.

Davis will be assisting the newspaper with page layout and ad design as well as helping local Paragon Printing customers with their printing needs.

Davis, an Ohio County native, graduated from Ohio County High School in 1983. She worked as a secretary for nine years before beginning her only other job, which she held for 28 years, in the printing industry.

“I didn’t have any experience really,” she said. “I learned by trial and error. It was all hands-on.”

While she never dreamed that she would work in the printing industry, she feels it has all been a God thing that

lead her to her career as a graphic designer.

“I really like the creative side,” she said. “It is a challenge.”

She looks forward to continuing working with the community and hopes to see many familiar faces that she has gotten to know over the years.

On top of providing customers the same professional, quality work they are used to receiving from her with Paragon, Sonja is also excited about learning the newspaper design aspect of the job.

“Newspapers, and the layout of them, has always fascinated me,” she said. “I already love the staff. They have been awesome to work with.

“We are really excited to have Sonja onboard with us,” OCTN Editor Dana Brantley said. “She is exceptionally talented. As soon as I found out she was available to come work for us I knew we needed to scoop her up. She will be a huge asset to both us and Paragon Printing.”

Davis, who lives in Hartford, loves spending time with her husband and son and enjoys being outdoors where she practices another one of her passions, photography. She loves taking photos of nature, especially sunsets. You may have seen some of Davis’ photos in the Ohio County Times-News in the past and will most definitely see more in the future.
