Rosetta Jean (Slinker) Smith left this world Friday, June 25, 2021, in Chesterton, Ind. She was born down on the farm in Ohio County, and was a homemaker the majority of her life, but she did work at Perdue Farms for 14 years. She enjoyed cooking/baking, quilting/cross stitch and spending time with her family.
Rosetta was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Larry Smith (1995).
Her family left behind are Meleeisa (Steve) Dawson, of Owensboro, Robin Hack of Valparaiso, Ind., and Larry (Christy) Smith also of Valparaiso. She had a wealth of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was considered Mom, Grandma, and Granny to an abundance of others. Her two sisters, Juanita Cheslea, of Central City, and Marie Gaines, of White Plains also survive.
A memorial service will be held at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 88 Mt. Carmel Church Road, Utica (just off Old Buford Road), on Saturday, July 31, at 3 p.m., with family visitation from 1 to 3. Brother Chris Taylor will preside.
