Sheriff to open satellite office in Fordsville

Residents in Fordsville will soon have better access to the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office.

“The sheriff’s office for the first time ever will have a satellite office in Fordsville,” Ohio County Sheriff Adam Wright told the Ohio County Times-News Monday.

Ohio County EMS currently rents space from the Fordsville Fire Department. That space has a couple of offices that EMS doesn’t use, Wright said. OCSO is partnering with EMS to pay half the rent for their office space.

Starting May 1, the satellite office space will be available for people on that end of the county to get vehicle inspections done, file EPO’s and conduct other business without having to drive 20 miles into Hartford.

“As time goes on we will see other things that we need to utilize up there,” Wright said. “It gives us a place in Fordsville.”

Currently, Wright said deputies are provided space in offices at the schools in the county if they need a place to do paperwork while on patrol. While his office is grateful for the space, for safety reasons they can’t conduct interviews and other in-person business at a school.

Deputy Dylan Lynn is currently assigned to patrol the Fordsville area at night and during the day deputies rotate assignments in that area; they just need an office location.

“(Fordsville residents) haven’t had a deputy assigned to that area in a while and now not only do they have a deputy but he is going to have an office.”

Wright said the satellite office will not be staffed by an office assistant, but if someone goes to the office and the deputy is on patrol, a Ring Doorbell System will be installed that will go through to dispatch. This will allow citizens to speak to someone and ask for the deputy in the area to be called to the office.

Wright said this is part of a promise he made to the communities before taking office this year.

“Not just in Fordsville but we are going to also start looking at what we can do and utilize for the other areas of the county in an effort to better serve the community and use every available resource that we can to better the safety of the citizens.”
