BEAVER DAM — Thelma “Gayle” Szitasy, 72, formerly of Steger, Ill., quietly passed away Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, at home, with her family by her side. She died peacefully after a 7-year battle with pulmonary fibrosis, in which she selflessly donated her body to science. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She had a passion to cook and bake. She also enjoyed the outdoors from gardening to fishing. To many she had the answer to most anything, whether it was about cooking, medical, personal, etc. Sometimes you might not like the answer, but she was an honest Christian woman, loved by most. She was an active member of Ohio County Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
She is preceded in death by her only son, John Szitasy Jr.
Thelma leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 55 years, John (Buz) Szitasy Sr., of Beaver Dam; her only daughter, Kathleen (Robert) Allen, of Auburndale, Fla.; her only granddaughter, Amber (Ryan) Hisle, of Winter Haven, Fla.; and two grandsons, Matthew Steele and Michael (Annaliese) Millirones, of Bowling Green.
A Celebration of Life may be set at a later date.
