BD Nursing and Rehab video airs on America’s Funniest Home Videos

What started out as a prank between coworkers ended up with an appearance on ABC’s long-running hit television show America’s Funniest Home Videos.

On Sunday, a video of a prank involving a giant teddy bear and staff members at Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehab aired on the popular show.

The prank was at the expense of Alissa Logsdon, admissions and marketing director.

“Several years ago I had a bad experience with a teddy bear and stuffed animals,” Logsdon said.

Logsdon’s coworkers were aware of that experience and took advantage of her fear.

“I’m an easy target and I don’t like jump scares,” she said.

On Halloween last year, her coworkers told Logsdon that someone had donated a giant teddy bear to the facility and they wanted her to see it.

Logsdon said she had no reason not to believe them, and when she saw it she just thought it was a huge teddy bear.

“I could not get over how big it was,” she said.

What Logsdon didn’t know was that it wasn’t a stuffed animal – instead, it was a giant bear costume with a coworker hidden inside. Her coworkers had been planning to scare her for weeks and ordered the costume just for that occasion.

Justin Hendrix, CEO of the facility, called Logsdon and two of her coworkers into his office to see the teddy bear. Once Hendrix said the keyword “Halloween,” the bear came to life.

“I screamed and ran into the corner. I have no idea why I ran to the corner,” she said.

Because Logsdon ran into the corner, when the video was uploaded to social media it was titled Teddy Bear Shuffle with the explanation, “Admissions/Marketing Director, Alissa Logsdon, has created a new dance for everyone. We’re calling it the Teddy Bear Shuffle.” That video has 3.8 thousand views on Facebook.

Hendrix submitted the video to AFV and each person who had appeared in the video had to sign a waiver. But, they didn’t hear anything else about it until Feb. 21 when they received word that the video was going to air on Sunday.

Logsdon said these types of antics are par for the course when it comes to her coworkers who she called “pranksters” and that she can never let her guard down when it comes to them. She said that after this incident though maybe they shouldn’t let their guard down around her either.
